President of Djibouti Receives Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta

Djibouti, Feb. 1 (SUNA) – The President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, Monday noon received the visiting member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, in the presence of Djibouti Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Yousif, Sudan Ambassador to Djibouti, Hamza Al-Amin Bao, Djibouti Ambassador to Sudan, Ahmed Ali Barri, and a representative of Sudan Foreign Ministry, Siqqiq Mohamed Abdalla. Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta has informed the President of Djibouti on the political situation in the country, stressing the ability of the Sudanese government and people to overcome all the challenges facing the transitional phase toward achieving peace and stability through consensus between the political components in the country. Sudan Ambassador to Djibouti said in a press statement that the two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between Sudan and Djibouti through reactivating the mechanisms of the joint ministerial committee and the political consultation committee, which is co-headed by the Foreign Ministers of Sudan and Djibouti. He indicated that the meeting underscored the importance of consolidating the coordination between the two countries regarding regional developments, especially in the level of the IGAD region. The member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council has briefed the President of Djibouti on the developments of the situation on the border between Sudan and Ethiopia and Sudan's vision in this regard.
