Installing 10 new handling machinery at seaports starts

Khartoum, Jan. 10 (SUNA) - The Sudanese Seaports Authority has started installing ten new handling machinery it had imported in mid-November, in an operation that is the first of its kind after the ban on Sudan had been lifted. The new machinery, whose cost amounts to about 4 million Euros, carry out the functions of specialized cranes for containers and they are adjustable according to the need to handle all containers, whether they are (20) or (40) feet. It is expected that it would contribute to raising the production efficiency of the Southern Port. These equipment come as part of a matrix for developing and modernizing Sudanese ports. More handling machinery are to arrive during the current month, to deal with congestion in the Southern Port. BT/BT
