Sweden Affirms support to Transitional Period

Khartoum, Dec.28 (SUNA) – The Kingdom of Sweden has affirmed its full support to the goals of the Transitional Period in Sudan, the democratic transition and realization of peace and stability in the country. This came when the Acting Foreign Minister, Omar Gamar Edeen met, at his office, Monday, the Swedish Ambassador to Sudan, Signe Burgstaller. The Ambassador has congratulated the minister on the achievements of the transitional government, top of which, signing of Peace Agreement, revocation of the country’s name from the terrorist list, re-instate of Sudan’s sovereign immunity and start of cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC). The meeting dis-cussed the arrangements of the Swedish Foreign Minister’s expected visit to Sudan scheduled for early next year. Meanwhile, the minister lauded the partnership and the Swedish support to Sudan, affirming thje government’s keenness to cement the bilat-eral relations between the two countries in different fields. The situations of the refu-gees in Eastern Sudan, were also discussed. IF/IF
