Al-Burhan Receives Credentials of EU Ambassador

Khartoum, Oct.15 (SUNA) - Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has appreciated the efforts of the European Union to support peace,stability and de-velopment in the country. He was informed, when he received at the Republican Palace Tuesday the credentials of the new EU ambassador to Sudan, Robert Van Den Dool, on the EU arrangements for providing support to transitional period institutions and programs by focusing on the humanitarian aspects. Ambassador Den Dool affirmed in a press statement the EU readiness to contribute along with with the international community to pushing forward the government efforts to realize peace with armed groups. He said that there is great hope for success of these peace efforts toward boosting the democratic transformation, achievement of aspired economic and social development and Sudan’s openness. The Ambassador expressed the EU satisfaction over Sudan participation in a meeting which will draw its friends next week. ab/MO
