Foreign Minister Meets Deputy Foreign Minister of South Sudan, Calls for Expanding Cooperation
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Dr. Ali Youssef has praised the close fraternal relations between Sudan and South Sudan and the deep ties between the two brotherly peoples. He stressed the need to intensify cooperation between the two countries' foreign ministries to take advantage of promising opportunities and expand cooperation to include new areas that serve the interests of the two peoples. This came during a meeting between the Foreign Minister on Wednesday in Cairo with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan, Ambassador Mende Samaya Kumba.
The two sides agreed to activate the political consultation mechanism between the two countries' foreign ministries and hold it periodically to ensure monitoring of overall relations and sectoral cooperation between the two countries. The meeting also reviewed overall developments in both countries and ways to enhance joint cooperation to sustain regional security. For his part, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan expressed his country's appreciation for relations with Sudan in all aspects, and its keenness to develop and activate mechanisms of joint cooperation to ensure the achievement of the desired goals. He expressed his hope that the Minister of Foreign Affairs would visit the capital of the State of South Sudan, Juba, as soon as possible.
